My name is Brooke Logan Hawthorne and I am from Buckhead, Atlanta, Georgia. I was THE token black girl throughout my high school days. I was like the one speck of pepper in a bowl of salt. Most people described me as an “Oreo”, but I never fully understood what that meant back then. Maybe I talked too proper. Oh well.
It all changed when I got a full tennis scholarship to Howard University. I had become submerged in a completely black society and I was no longer the token black girl. I learned quickly that in order to succeed, I needed to fit in and that included learning the Howard and DC lingo—because seriously you need a dictionary for those terms. I also learned how to TWERK—interesting but true a fact lol. Not only did Howard transform me socially it made me realize that there is a lot of diversity amongst black people and I learned to embrace being an “Oreo.”
This is my last year at HU and I’m over all of the events and “hype” of Howard. I simply would like to graduate and continue on my self-journey into “THE HAWT LIFE.”
THE HAWT LIFE (created with the use of my last name- clever, huh?) includes a lifestyle whose motto is “being as fit and fabulous as possible!” I’ve decided to make a change by dedicating myself to working out consistently, eating healthier, and being a fabulous woman. In my blog you’ll hear my story about the journey to becoming FIT, FAB & FLAWLESS. Welcome to THE HAWT LIFE ❤ Enjoy!!
